I have done some reading regarding water damage and the success people have had however, I have not.
I got my Pearl wet on Friday [today is Wed] and the keyboard still hasnt come back to life so to speak. The watermark on the battery turned pink and Xs but the one on the inside of the phone [small white square I assume] is still white. I do find that odd as well.
The phone boots up, charges, I get new message alerts, and I can navigate the trackball side to side and up and down [to my faves display], but it does not click.
Therefore, I cannot access messages, answer a call, decline a call, etc. And actually the mute button on the top of the phone is broken too.
I did leave the battery in the first night, then read forums and so I took it out and let it dry on a space heater on low making sure it didnt get TOO hot. I did that the last few days, each day booting it up once or twice to see if the keyboard returned to normal, and nothing yet.

Is my keyboard completely fried due to the one night of water and battery?
Does anyone know if it might come back to life?
Should I just give up and buy a new phone?
Is there anyway to access my messages [there are close to 50]?
If i DO have to buy a new BB, will my text/email messages be lost?


Any help would be great.

The problem (besides leaving the battery in initially) was that you tried it every night to see if it works. You HAVE to leave it be for 4 or 5 days in order to completely dry it.

The red x's on the battery do not indicate water damage. The white square is the moisture indicator. You could try and exchange the device (since the moisture indicator is not tripped) but they will see that the device suffered moisture damage even though it didn't trip.

I would remove the battery and let it sit for another few days (don't try and use it.) The moisture likely has gotten inside the keyboard contacts and will take quite some time to dry.

Hard to say the extent of the damage.

It could get better over time, or it might get worse, or nothing will happen. Even if its completely dry.

If you, or someone that can take it apart and clean it, I recommend that. Get some contact cleaner and scrub the inside board of the phone. Clean off any rush, corrosion or "mold." That normally helps and might make a thing or two start working again. That's the best thing to do at this point, aside from purchasing a new unit.
