I posted this on another forum and it may be helpful here also. If you are only converting DVD to the Pearl, skip the DVR-MS step and finish the rest.
I read several post about video on the Pearl, but nothing specific on the 8130 so I thought I would post this. It may work on the 8100 also. I use Windows Media Center to record my favorite shows while I travel for my job. I wanted to get them on my BB so I could watch them when I was at my hotel, or waiting at a jobsite. This is how I accomplished it and corrisponding screen shots (movies) of it working. MODS, if it worth it, please make this a sticky.
I used the following programs:
DVD Santa (converts the DVR-MS to DVD) found here:
dvdSanta: Burn Your Favorite Videos onto DVDs and watch them on TV!
Slysoft's CloneDVD Mobile (converts the DVD to AVI) found here:
SlySoft Products | Copy Movie DVDs with AnyDVD and CloneDVD
RIM DM Media Manager (converts the AVI to mpeg4)
Yes I know you may have to purchase a couple apps but they are worth the price, especially the Slysoft apps. But anyways...
-With DVD Santa, find the TV program (or movie) you want to convert, usually it is in the Public > Recorded TV folder.
-Convert the DVR-MS to a DVD file.
-Then use CloneDVD Mobile to convert it to an AVI file. Use the BlackBerry Pearl mode
-When you add it to your BB through the Media Manager in your DM, select the convert for optimal play back. This will convert it to mpeg4 and drastically reduce the file size.
My TV show of "The Unit" at the below links, went from 1.1 GB to 284.8 MB after adding to the BB. With this conversion, I can add quite a few videos to my 4 GB card.
The linked movies show the video in standard play mode and the full screen mode (changed in the options of the player).

Let me know if this is helpfull. It sure makes the 8130 worth it now!
