I recieved an 8100 replacement phone due to dropped calls (AT&T).
The problem I have is while I was doing a restore to the replacement phone I got a call. I did not answer the call and the restore finished.
The one call I got does not show up in the phone log or messages so I cannot acknowledge it so I always have the missed call icon with a 1 by it.
Taking the battery out does not help and I tried going thru each message one at a time and clicking on it with the trackball.
Any ideas on how to get rid of the missed call icon?
Also is there a way to mass delete messages, I only see a delete for one message at a time.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Tom,

Try switching themes and then switch back and see if it clears.

Go to messages folder, open menu, click view folders, then open missed calls. What do you see? If you delete, does missed call icon go away?

To delete in mass, you can point to date in message folder and delete prior from menu. On 8700, I can also hold num key and scroll the wheel to highlight messages to delete---I assume there is comparable operation on models with track ball.

The folder is empty, somehow I figured a way to mass delete... not sure how. I deleted everything under messages and phone and still have the icon.
Not a big deal... just annoying!

Maybe something there you haven't tried?

Tried each one of the items in that post, all folders empty and icon is still there. The last item on the list scares me... reload OS. Not sure I know how or want to do that!

Well after doing a quick google I find out this is a common problem. I am going to search the forum for reloading the os... how hard is this to do?
Thanks

I know that is what some people have to resort to in order to correct the issue. The steps are in the FAQ's. Just be sure to follow them EXACTLY. Also remember to be patient the phone may re-boot multiple times and may hour glass for 20+ minutes. If you disconnect you will have to start all over.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

I haven't done it myself, but from directions it isn't a big deal. Agree with above: follow directions and be patient. I know when doing OS upgrade there is a phase that seems to take forever when it looks like nothing is happening. Just leave it alone and let things finish. Long periods like that are to be expected.

Ok so here is my question... I went thru the process of downloading and installing the latest desktop manager. According to the instruction after deleting the vendor file you click on application loader. I go thru the steps and it says no action required.
Is there a way to force reloading the os?
