Default Device Memory Full - Keep Appointments to...

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

When I try to synchronize my Pearl, I get the Device Memory Full.

I did read the forums and they recommend:

Reduce the amount of time Messages are kept on the handheld.
1. Scroll to and select the Calendar icon.
2. Press the Menu key, select Options.
3. Select General Options.
4. Scroll to and select Keep Messages.
5. Select the desired amount of time to keep appointments.
6. Press the Menu key, select Save.
7. Hard Reset the BlackBerry.

However, when I go to my Calendar and press Options, I DO NOT have the "Keep Messages" option???

Can someone help me? The number of entries are showing at 369, so I assume this is the reason.

Thanks so much

Do you have options then calendar options then all way at the bottom it should say "keep appointments"

Also did you do a battery pull. and 369 apps. is not a lot.

am I doing some thing wrong?

I go to the calendar, hit menu... options
then I get the list
Initial View
Enable Quick Entry
Default Reminder... etc.

I don't see 'general options'

thanks

I don't know exactly where it is because I have the 8130 and it's different now but it should be the last or second to last think in the list.

I have an 8100 and I don't have that option either. It almost looks like a calendar function and an SMS/Email function was combined. If you skip steps 3 and 4 and just scroll down towards the bottom of the "options" list, you'll find the item listed in step 5.

I think the default is to keep appointments "forever". Changing that should reduce your "369".

Good luck!

I currently have 469 appts in my calendar and the 8130 tells me the database size is 127.9 KB. So the entries you have are small. Start looking for other issues like software installed, clearing the cache and removing un-needed emails. Checking the database sizes will also give you a hint where the problem may lie.

To check database sizes go to Options > Status > open menu and choose database sizes

This works on my 8130 and may work on your BB also.

Thank you all for your replies. I do appreciate it.

I am a new Blackberry Owner, so I am still learning how to use all the funtionality to it's fullest capabilities.

I did change the SMS message options from Forever to 60 days. I hope this will help and hopefully as the latest reply from C17Driver suggested that this will link to the Calendar function.
It's strange that in the 8100, the Calendar does not have this!

Oh... and I did go to the database... The Calendar shows 369/159.6 K and the Content Store shows 37/3204.2 k.
What is the Content Store???

thanks again!

I am not 100% sure but I believe that is the amount of space your apps are taking up. Mine is at 1.3+ MB, I rmoved BB Maps (I use Telenav so it was redundant) last night and that is why it is lower.

If I am wrong then hopefully someone will correct me and we will both learn something new.
