Default red Xs on battery but pearl never in water..

Please Login to Remove!

I keep my pearl in a full leather protective cover (with transparent plastic on screen and keyboard). 100% of the phone is covered, so I guess some moisture got inside and triggered the red Xs on the battery.
my question: where is the water signal on the phone? I d like to see if both phone and battery got affected, or only the battery.

The moisture indicator is a white (red if tripped) square up on the plastic casing near the sim card.

The strip on the battery is not a moisture indicator.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8130/4.3.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

That is a water indicator on your battery. But you are fine. It should have red x's. When it turns completely red that's when you have moisture. Hope that helps.

Again, that is NOT a moisture indicator on the battery. It's been posted here in other threads. I removed a "brand new" one from a brand new BB box and ran it underwater and it did not change. I removed it from the battery and ran it under water and it still did not change. Underneath the sticker there are two holes inside. Nobody's been able to figure out what it is but it's definitley NOT a moisture indicator.

When you get a replacement BB through your carrier's warranty, they don't care about the battery, nor do they ask for it back or replace it. It's some kind of indicator....I'd say more like a heat indicator (haven't tested that theory) or leakage indicator.

Also note that you cant always see the moisture indicators on the device itself. There are often more than one and under the case where they can not be accessed without disassembly.
