I've got my Sirius working GREAT via Orb on my Blackberry 8130 (FYI, the links at the beginning of this post link to an old version of uSirius. Do a google search for uSirius and install the latest version)
Question: For whatever reason, I can't play MP3s on my machine via Orb. It just says "An error has occurred attempting to play media."
Any ideas? I'd LOVE to get this working!

1. Download/install Orb to your desktop computer.
2. Download/install uSirius to your desktop
3. Configure both to normal settings
4. In uSirius, copy the supplied channel URL (click the URL button then select the channel you want, then copy to clipboard).
5. On your desktop, go to Orb, then go to the "Audio page" and make sure you are in the internet radio area.
6. Paste the URL and channel name you copied from uSirius into "Add Custom" under the "my Favorate internet radio." Then orb will know where to look for the sirius feed.
Note: You need to repete this step for every sirius channel you want.
7. On your blackberry browser go to mycast.orb.com
Log in and go to favorate internet radio links and click the feed/channel you want to listen to. Remember, uSirius needs to be running on your desktop.
8. hope this helps

YOu can't stream Sirius or XM, but you can do other internet streams. I've been able to get my webcam to work with my 8130, but still working on getting my MP3s to work. grrrr!

I'm pretty certain I don't have VCAST with my Verizon plan. Does that mean that Verizon will charge me while I'm streaming whatever from Orb?

VCast has nothing to do with Orb, and nothing to do w/Blackberries...nothing you do on your Pearl, streaming or otherwise, will be affected by or result in any VCast charges.
You have a data plan that allows up to 5GB of data a month, whatever data you want, whether it's email or Orb content, etc.

Have you set up a custom station yet? I want to stream a local public radio station and haven't figured it out yet. I presume Orb will transcode to a stream that my BB can handle, but it wasn't working the first time I tried it...

Unsupported media type: application/sdp -

I have a 8100 (cingular v4.2.0.73) and cant get streaming working via ORB. No matter what I try I get the "Unsupported media type: application/sdp" error on my bb. I have the ".3gp" in my ORB settings. Any ideas?

Has anybody tried streaming Hulu.com through Orb on their phones? I was curious whether this worked.

Just got my 8130 today and I'm already streaming Sirius on it!!
Thanks OP!

Sirius via Orb - Instructions for Verizon Pearl 8130 -
06-15-2008, 11:52 PM
This is what worked for me today (June 15, 2008). I don't know if this is a must, but first, download the handheld software Ver. 4.3.0.97. It IS available on the Verizon website and is linked from RIM BlackBerry - PDA Software Downloads - Support & Services at BlackBerry.com or search the site, as it may change. The file is 95 Mb and you may lose a few settings as the program does a back-up, update, and then restoration. Download go to MyCast your digital media with Orb 2.0 remote pc access software and download, find uSirius and download. When you later visit your Orb account on the computer, add the Sirius stream station addresses that you copy from the uSirius program. Then, login to mycast.orb.com on your Phone. The .3gp stream setting works for me. Good sound and stream quality . I'm done!

I would think that it would work on the 8830. The 8100 I cannot say as I have no access to an 8100, and we don't have GSM in Fargo so I can't test if I had one. I will try and test the 8830 this week and get back to you. I will tell all of you that this setup is really inconsistent it seems like it works sometimes, and sometimes does not so you have to keep at it.

I know this is the the Pearl forum but seems this should now work on the curves with the 4.5 os too, right?
Might be worth a shot finally!

I'm good until Step 6 - I have spent 30 minutes looking everywhere and don't see an ADD CUSTOM link under my favorite internet radio.
Anyone else?

I have a Curve 8330 with 4.3 on it. I have Orb, and uXM running. When I login to Orb on my blackberry and click on the channel that I want, it will only work 1 out of 15 times. It will and can work, but it works very sparingly.

Finally got some time to reload Orb on my laptop and was able to add some custom conent (sirius urls). Works fine from the Wii in the family room, but the 8310 on AT&T isn't liking it yet.
I was able to stream some other generic internet radio station on the BB, but alas....no luck so far.
I'll keep trying like VJ and see if the 1:15 ratio plays out.

I recently got the 8120 and everytime I try to load a file through orb whether it's music video tv whatever i get an error message "the protocol specified is not supporte by the handheld. Please try a different URL." This is using the hotspot browser connecting to wi-fi. Any ideas?

Dude, I have everything loaded. I even can play the feed through orb on my computer. When I'm on my BB and I open up the Sirius link under my Favorite Internet Feeds and hit play, it links to a black screen and nothing happens. No sound, nothing. Thoughts?

These are some things I have found. You cannot stream to more then device for some reason. Only one computer or one BB at a time or it overloads and fails out. I would recommend that you clear the history in your BB. You can use it from mycast.orb.com from history or favorite. You must click on the link to "your" station each time. You cannot favorite one station just the link to you mycast.orb.com.

Correct me if I am wrong...but I'm assuming your computer has to be online with usirius and orb running, for you to listen to the streaming radio on your blackberry?
That's not a very friendly deal for us blackberry owners that use our phones as bluetooth modems to get online with our pc. PC may be online, but phone is in use during that time.
Plus that seems a bit odd that you have to turn your PC on/sign online, just to listen to the radio on your BB. Too much hassle, just buy a satellite radio kit.

i have an at&T 8300, updated to 4.5 OS (took about 2 hours for me), followed the install instructions for Orb and Usirius.
my custom added sirius channels show up, but when i try to access them on the 8300 i get:
"Content not available. Server is blocked or unresponsive"
the request appear to be handled properly and accepted in the Usirius status window, not sure what to do from here.
***update: after fresh 4.5 OS install i can now stream content from my computer at home, just not sirius. getting a codec error showing up in the media player, which is weird since it has the Orb name, logo and the orb codec website on it. problem is all of the codecs listed are for a computer, not a handheld.

I have an ATT 8310 with 4.2 on it.
I will do the install and try to get it working tonight.
I plan to do the upgrade to OS 4.5 here shortly.
I will test to see if it works on that OS 4.5 as well.
Stay tuned...

Anyone recently tried this on the 8100 with a 4.5 OS? I noticed you can stream movies from like youtube, though a bit pixelated at times, but I don't know if it was possible before with the 4.2 OS's?

Mine stops working once in a while. clearing the browser cache makes sirius streaming work again
When it stops working, it says unsupported stream.
