Default Initiate text from address list?

Please Login to Remove!

On the home screen, you can hold down the green "call" key & it brings up your address list, which is nice. However, if I find a contact on the list, is there a way to initiate a text message to them? The Blackberry key doesn't bring up this option. I've tried other keys but don't see there is a way to do this. If you actually bring up the Address Book application, once you've found a contact, you can press the Blackberry key and initiate a text message.

Am I missing something or is there no way to do this? It would be a nice time saver.

Thanks - Jevid

Default

I don't think so, since you are in the Phone Dialer program.
I guess the only way is through the Address Book.

Default Figured out another way to do it

Ok, I did figure out a quick way to initiate a text message from the home screen. Instead of holding down the "call" key, just start typing the name of the person. Once it comes up, highlight the mobile number (if more than 1 number) then press the Blackberry key. You'll have an option to send an SMS from that list.

This may have been obvious to other BB users, but I just got a Pearl and am trying to figure things out.

Thanks NJBlackberry for chiming in!
