ok so my question is...
i read that the ramble thing is free, however, i am wondering, since i have no data plan, will i be charged for the internet if i do download and use ramble?

Yes you will be charged, using the Internet without a data plan is not a good idea. I would suggest adding a plan if you wish to use the Internet to IM.
