Default AT&T Subsidy Unlock

Please Login to Remove!

Those of you that have requested a subsidy unlock for your Pearl with AT&T, how long did it take you to get it. The rep said 5-7 days, although I generally hear considerably shorter times.

I want to get the phone unlocked, wipe the OS and load the TMobile OS on there and unlock the TMO theme and give it to my GF as an early Xmas gift. No sense in waiting till Xmas for this gorgeous phone.. just need it unlocked first.

You can always pay to get it unlocked sooner!

True. Worst case I'll contact gsmphonesource (I think that's the one most folks recommend).

I'm not in a huge huge rush, but it would obviously be nice to get it sooner than later.

You don't need to change the OS in order to put the other themes on it.

Yeah I know. Thanks for the link. I'll only do it IF the OS is older

You do not need to unlock the phone to install another vendors OS either. Just delete the vendor.xml file. There are plenty of posts in the forums with exact instructions.

To answer your original question, it took 2 business days for ATT to give me the unlock code.

Cool stuff. I know I can load any vendor OS on the phone, but I thought it would be easiest to load TMobiles. Turns out I can just update the Blackberry.alx file on the current OS version to enable the tmobile theme.

Alright got the tmo theme loaded. Parallels desktop sure doesn't like that Blackberry software though. Kept getting kernel panics in OS X.

The three times I've call AT&T Customer Care for an unlock code it took anywhere between overnight and two days later. Care is pretty good at getting the subsidy unlocks to you.

Well I requested it early this morning. Maybe 10am or so. So I hope it's sooner than later is all.
