I get that from time to time, and will turn the wireless off and back on (under Manage Connection icon -> uncheck then check Mobile Network).
Kind of a pain, I agree.
Even though you can get email/text still the device needs the 1X or 1XEV connection for the internet.
Email/text can be send in little data bits and will retry until it can successfully resend if the connection gets 'choppy'. The browser needs a continuous connection, and if the connection drops, then so does your session.
No longer a BES Admin, but it was fun while it lasted!
