Default facebook got automatically installed. How to remove?

Please Login to Remove!

I noticed today that a Facebook program got automatically installed on my Pearl. I have no idea how that happened. I looked under Applications/Programs and can't find a way to uninstall it either. Any thoughts?

Also, I noticed a program called Phantom on my installed list. Any idea what that is?

Thanks!

Yeah I have it too...a T-Mobile pushed thing like Handango InHand.

So, I called Tmobile and they said that RIM probably pushed the links to people BBs. I found out it is not a program, but a link. I was transfer over to RIM but got cut off. Eh, guess I'll just hide it for now.

Update

Well, Blackberry called me back even though we got cut off (great customer service). I guess these 2 items, Facebook and Handango, are considered "Browser Channels" by RIM and they are links. You click on it and a browser window opens and tries to take you some place.

Here's the interesting part: RIM said that Tmo pushed it to my phone and Tmo said RIM did it. I love the childish finger-pointing.

The CS rep at RIM was going to try to help me delete it from the desktop, but I have better things to do and can just hide it.

Just delete the Service Book for it (Options > Advanced Options > Service Books). It got pushed to mine too and I just deleted the Service Book for it. Of course it will come back should you need to resend the Service Books.

If T-Mobile told you that RIM did it then they flat out lied to you. RIM does not push content to the handhelds. Only the carriers do. A good example is the TeleNav icon on some devices.

I've found that the Handango service books can be deleted and they don't come back.

Deleting the service book was no problem!! Thanks!

As for who did what, I can see where both would benefit financially from a company paying either of them to put their link on the desktop. Can't blame them, if there was an easy way to remove it. Now I know.

Since other folks with other carriers got the same thing, I would have to say that RIM did this....guessing.

Default Remove The Facebook Icon

In the service books the Facebook book is BC Virtual Preload Facebook - or something close. I missed it the first time I looked.

I am not happy with T-mo for pushing this when I get new service books.

I used Facebook briefly, but left when they began the Beacon program. The very fact that they began the program shows a corporate culture immune to privacy concerns.
