i am looking for an mp3 player that will play music through my bluetooth headset. i do not want to buy a sterero bluetooth headset but would like to be able to just have music transferred to my mono regular old bluetooth headset from my 8130 pearl. once upon a time i had a tmobile 8100 that i was able to dso this with. i cannot remember though if i used the standard old BB media player or if i downloaded a 3rd party app that allowed this. anyone know if this is possible????

Dollars5 makes a media player that will play through bluetooth. It works great with my Pearl 8100.

The media player that comes with the Pearl 8130 does transfer music through bluetooth, but the bluetooth headset has to support the AD2P bluetooth profile. Most bluetooth headsets, except the ones that say they are stereo bluetooth, does not.

So what you really need to do then is to find a 3rd party media player app that will transfer the music through the handsfree profile, not AD2P.

I thought that w/out support for AD2P on the headset, that you can't play music on it. From what I was told (e.g., w/my H700 Moto BT headset) there isn't an option to play music through it, regardless of the SW on the device.

In any case, as noted, the BB music player will play music via BT AD2P, and there are a lot of headsets out there that support AD2P these days...

I actually got the Jabra BT8010...only $46 from New Egg, which includes the primary headset (make and receive calls), and a smaller secondary one (listen only) that connects to the primary via a small wire to provide stereo music. I got it for use at the gym...

The downsides to the Jabra are 1) No mute, and 2) It doesn't feel as secure on the ear as I'd like, but it's comfortable, and I'm not running (weights and stationary machines) so it's fine for my needs. I don't think I'd go jogging w/it.

I had tried the Plantronics Voyager 855 bluetooth stereo headset and I thought the sound was lacking (it might be the headset). It sounded very hollow as compared to wired headsets.

I ended up getting an Acoustic Research wired headset. It has the inline microphone so you can make calls with it, it has nice soft ear gels and gel covered ear hooks, and the wire is cloth wrapped so it is more durable than the headphones that came with the phone. It is more comfortable to wear for an extended period of time than the stock headphones. This would be a good headset to go jogging with. It cost me $25 (or $30?) at Best Buy.

Yeah...I looked at going that way, but I just had to get rid of any wires...I am a repeated offender in the accidentally pulling headphone wires and ripping them off my head, or the plug out of the phone, or the phone out of my hand onto the floor, etc. I'm just plain dangerous...one of my 'musts' when I went shopping for a headset this time w/my new Pearl was wireless. Every choice involves some sort of compromise, of course...
