Default Any way to remove running applications? - 12-04-2007, 10:51 PM

MY GF just wants to use the pearl as a phone, so the bb messenger, browser, ptt (at&t phone) don't need to "RUN" (as in switch application shows them running)

Can I make these not run when the phone is on unless selected? That way it conserves battery power?

BB Messenger can be removed in the options then applicatons menu. I thought if you don't have a data plan you don't have the browser but I could be wrong.

You can hide the browser in the menu, does she have a data plan. I don't think it will really effect the use of the BB. I'm not sure about the PPT app. though.

She has no data plan. I got rid of the PTT, and Iknow you can 'hide' the browser but it still shows up as running.

Thanks in advance.

Just go to Options >Advanced Options >Applications and delete it. Be aware, though, that in order to reinstall it you'll need to download the OS installation package and install it to your PC along with Desktop Manager.

I'm guessing it's the medianet browser. You can delete the service book for it in Options >Advanced Options >Service Book. It may come back though.

I don't see the MEdia net browser listed there.

Just leave it alone. It doesn't hurt anything having it there, anyway. However, there must be other service book entries for the browser then. Delete them if you really want them gone.

Well it's listed in 'switch applications', along with phone, messaging and something else.. i'd imagine since it's in an 'always running' state, it's not helping battery life.
