Default Ringer Volume on 8130 for Sprint

Please Login to Remove!

I recently got a Pearl 2 on the Sprint Network. This phone is pretty much awesome in every way except for one thing: THE RINGER VOLUME!

Some of my friends say their ringers do it too, while others say their volume is the best.

I have edited all of the ringers to be between 225% and 275% higher in volume. Still, with the settings on "Escalating" in my profile palette, it is hardly loud enough. When I listen to the ringer in the media player, it plays at a MUCH louder volume than when I receive a call. As well as this, when my phone rings, the call starts off low and then there's a slight "crack" and the volume is boosted up - still not loud enough but definitely louder than when it starts.

Is this a common problem or a bug?

I found the ringer to be very low on the BlackBerry 8130 even when I set the volume to high. My old 8100 rang much louder than the 8130 does even though the 8130 has dual speakers. I edited all my ringtones with a program called MP3Gain, now when I receive an phone call, email or a pin message I will hear my BlackBerry even when I am in an environment where there is a lot of background noise. Before editing my ringtones with MP3Gain I had to set my BlackBerry to vibe or vibe and ring otherwise I would never know if was going off unless I was somewhere quiet.

Does anyone else have the problem where the ringer will be quiet for the first 3 or 4 second and then have a small "crack" noise and then the ringer will be much louder? I'm just trying to find out if my Pearl is defective or not.

Hopefully. It's been fixed that way before.

Default Pearl 8130 ring volume

I've had my Pearl 8130 for about a week and the ring volume is TERRIBLE. My daughter and I were in the store standing right next to each other and I had her call me. You could not hear the phone ring and it is on the very highest setting. It's a great phone but it's worthless if you can't hear it ring. I called Sprint and asked Blackberry tech support about it. They had no clue as to cause or fix or were even aware that some people were having this issue. Told me to take it to a Sprint store that also did repairs and have it checked.

If there is a fix.................I'd sure like to know about it. Should have bought the Palm Centro. That ringer is so loud it scares you.

I just switched from an 8830 to a Pearl, so the ring volume on the Pearl (comparatively) is blowing out my ear drums. If you want to hear the weakest ringtone sound of any phone ever invented, get yourself an 8830.

One solution, which works for me, is to use an mp3 editing program (I used Audacity) and boost the volume of specific ring tones - then "save as" in your computer. Then, use the BB Desktop Manager media feature to transfer them right into the device memory in the ringtones section. I am using the old Motorola "continental" ringer, boosted 6db, and it works fantastic.

Default Volume

My issue with bb pearl 8130 is the volume all around. It's low on the ringer, it's low on speaker phone, and EXTREMELY low on the ear volume. I just got my pearl yesterday and returnig it today because of the volume issues. I have to check my voicemail from either my work phone, friends cell phone, or home phone because the volume is that low you can't hear anything. At first I thought it was maybe me, but I had several friends and co workers take my phone and walk away from as I call them on it from their phone, even they claim it's pretty low. I've tried the volume enhance and did absolutely nothing. Stinks, because all in all it's a great phone.

I know this is an old thread but I hope this helps others who come across this looking for the FIX to their VOLUME issues!

Okay so here goes ... Now this is what worked for my phone so hopefully it works for YOU ... if not I apologize in advance but I would guess it would work the same for all the Pearl models. GOOD LUCK!

1. Go into the "Profiles (xxxx)" tab. On my phone it is the speaker icon and it also states "Profiles (Loud)" to be exact.

2.
Scroll down past all of the following:

-Loud (If this does not state "active" then please make it your active ringer by selecting it now)
- Vibrate
- Quiet

Until you see ...

Advanced... and enter this menu!

3. Select the first listed item which should be Loud (Active).

4. Once in here you should see numerous selections such as: Browser, Calendar, Facebook and so on.

5. Select the one that looks like this:

Phone [xxxxxxxxxx] *the x's being your phone number*

There may be one above it that looks similar but is not your actual phone number. Leave that one for now.

6. Once you enter this menu you should then see:

Out of Holster: Tone
Ring Tone: xxxxxxxxxxxxx (your phones current ringtone)

and so on ...

You should see Volume as your next selection and it should be set to High.

If it is not set to HIGH, this is your issue!
My phone was set to MEDIUM by default and that resulted in the low ringtone!

So simply change this to HIGH and when you go back to the previous menu it should state "Changes made!" Be sure to Save these!

What I did to be sure it worked the same for all the ringer settings was I went back to the list (Browser, Calendar, Facebook, Level 1 Messages etc.) and I made sure the VOLUME was set to HIGH for all of them!

THAT WAS IT! It worked for mine and I hope it works for everyone else as I know what a pain this has been spending hours trying to find a solution online with no success .. I hope I finally found the fix for everyone.

Best of luck!!
