Default 8100- playing mp3 through car stereo

OK, I have a Pearl, and I got the Seidio adapter so I can plug it into my car stereo. I've got a couple of problems though.

The signal is weak- I have to turn the stereo up quite a bit for the same sound level as the radio or CD, even with the volume on the Pearl at max.

There is not much stereo separation- it sounds kind of closed in and hollow.

There is, as best I can tell, almost no signal going to my subwoofer.

I'm considering trying a Cmoy or similar pre-amp, but I'm not sure if it would help. I'm very disappointed in the sound quality on the Pearl. Even with headphones, the music lacks any depth or presence.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

I've been quite pleased with the sound quality from my Pearl. I did order the Seidio adapter w/ microphone and the coupler which you need to plug into the car's aux input...otherwise you won't get both channels. The adapter only works with headphones. Bass response is great and the seperation is quite good as well.

Cheers,
