Default Media net has dissapeared.

Please Login to Remove!

I installed AIM on my phone (Ramble) and the next thing I know, my media net and browser is completely gone. I cant get to the net on my phone at all. Any idea on how to fix this? I already uninstalled Ramble.

Did you do this through the Desktop Manager?

Try this:
Options >Advanced Options >Host Routing Table. Hit the menu key and select Register Now.

If that doesn't fix it then you'll likely need to install the OS installation package to your computer to reinstall the browser. What version of the OS do you have installed on your Pearl? Look in Options >About and read us the version number. It should start with 4.2.x.xx. If it's too old you may need to upgrade your OS.

This was a known bug in the Desktop Manager and some versions of the OS installed on the AT&T Pearls.

Version is 4.2.0.73

Try this:
Options >Advanced Options >Host Routing Table. Hit the menu key and select Register Now.

Tried that, and it didnt work. ):

That's what I figured. You may have to do some searching on this site for another GSM carrier that offers that version.

BlackBerry Operating System Downloads - BlackBerryFAQ

If you can't find that version on another carriers download site then I recommend updating to the latest version. Follow the instructions here:

Latest 8100 OS: Telkomsel Indonesia - 4.2.1.179 / 4.2.1.108 (Chinese_English)

Don't worry about the fact that it's not from AT&T. All OS's are made by RIM and all will work normally on any carrier's 8100.

Thanks. I'll work on this tomorrow, I'm extremely tired. Haha.

Well, I followed the first few instructions and I was never prompted to update my phone. So I dunno what I'm supposed to do now. I still don't have my media net icon and I still have no access to my browser at all.

After installation of the new OS package to your PC please delete the following file: vendor.xml located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader

Then try it again.

I've done that. Still didn't ask me to update.

Also, now I cant view any of my ringtones in the neat little media player on there.

What exactly have you done? Here are the steps:

Make sure the OS you downloaded and installed to your PC is the proper one and that it's newer than the one currently on your device.

1. Install Desktop Manager (if it isn't already.)
2. Install OS package you downloaded
3. Remove Vendor.xml file (check again and make sure it's not there...again.)
4. Plug in device and run Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade. If not, click on Application Loader and see if it's there.

Much is lost with this bug you encountered. You're not the first. Time to upgrade your OS. Just install the OS in the sticky thread at the top of the 8100 forum. Here it is. Follow the instructions on the first post of this thread:

Latest 8100 OS: Telkomsel Indonesia - 4.2.1.179 / 4.2.1.108 (Chinese_English)

Install the OS as instructed and you will be good as new with the latest and greatest OS for the Pearl.
