Default Attachment Service and MDS Runtime?

Please Login to Remove!

My new Verizon Pearl 8130 was recently killed by a Handango application that I unfortunately allowed to install. I followed the reload procedure using JI Cmdr, which worked well. However, there where no default applications/components selected in the Application Loader, so I had to guess which were the defaults. Most were pretty obvious, but the ones I'm not sure about are the Attachment Service and MDS Runtime. Are either of these installed by default (or needed) for a Verizon user with the basic Email and Web for BlackBerry plan?

Anyone?

Can someone with a new Verizon Pearl 8130 please look in Options, Advanced Options, Applications, and tell me if they see BlackBerry Attachment Service and/or BlackBerry MDS Runtime?

If you're on BIS you only need the attachment service.

MDS has something to do with using BES, but I'm not sure what.

This is from the blackberry site.

BlackBerry MDS Runtimexxx8482; provides runtime services for applications developed with BlackBerry MDS Studio. It allows users to query BlackBerry MDS Services to discover what applications are available to a particular user and to request and provision applications. BlackBerry MDS Runtime is included with BlackBerry Enterprise Server v4.1.

I have to imagine that this software really is for devices with BES and not for BIS, but I'm not sure.

My rule of thumb is that I don't delete anything that I don't know exactly what it does.

I'm not going to get rid of it just yet, doesn't seem to be taking up that much space.
