Default My first memory issues...Opera, or Video Camera?

Please Login to Remove!

I had my first memory problem today, the first time since I've owned the phone. I was down to 7 MB free, never been less than 10 before.

The only difference was that:

1. I was browsing using Opera this evening, the first time I'd used it for more than a few minutes.

2. I recorded a couple videos of my son playing in a school concert (4 min and 11 min).

I have deleted Opera, and will test making videos and see if that, w/out Opera chews up memory.

If that doesn't cause the issue, Opera won't go back on. If it does cause the issue, looks like that would indicate an area for RIM to work on in the OS....

Anyone else shot much video w/the 8130, and seen any memory issues from it? (I have an 8 GB card w/3 GB free, and all video goes to the card, of course.)

If videos are going to the card then that's not likely the issue. It's likely the cache while using Opera. Also, using the application switcher (alt + esc) will run down your memory, as well.

So that has been shown to be an issue on 4.3 as well? I had thought that was a 4.2 and earlier problem...

I do use Task Switcher pretty frequently, so that would be a variable that wasn't changed tonight...

I'm a BB newbie myself, but it stands to reason that if you leave a few apps open, more than the default 5 (?), and continue using the task switch app, you'll eat up memory. The same goes with your PC right ? More apps open, more memory used....

What John's referring to isn't about the number of apps open, just using the task switcher at all...there is an article on it on the BB site, but for some reason I got the idea it was a problem in the older OSs that wasn't in 4.3. Sounds like it may be present after all, from his comment...
