Default Problems with 8120 - 12-25-2007, 04:00 PM

Just got a brand new 8120 pearl sim free so there is no network associated with it.
The problems i have include blackberry messenger not allowing me to add new contacts, it just keeps everyone as pending... secondly the email set up does not appear on the menu however when i look in options>advanced options>applications the email set up application is there! this is causing me great grief as i cannot do anythin in terms of emails. other problems include other applications not being able to be found on the main menu although they appear in the options list.

please help...
thank you so much
4gone.

Welcome to BB Forums!

Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan on your account? In order to get e-mail or BB Messenger you must have a BlackBerry Data Plan.

4gone, welcome to the BB forums.

Do you have the BlackBerry Data Plan enabled on your Vodafone account? Without such, you won't have the email setup icon, or internet browser.

If you do have it, perhaps the icons are hidden. On the homescreen, press the menu key to to SHOW ALL, and see if any appear.

If it is 'sim free' what carrier are you connected to?

i am on vodafone as a carrier and as i just got it new i dont have the correct price plan, does this mean that if i change then blackberry messenger will work and the email set up will come up automatically on the phone? will it also mean that i can use the gprs internet, when ever i want rather than at the moment where it only works when it has wi fi enabled?
thanks
4gone

Yes; once you get the correct BlackBerry Data Plan on your account, the Setup Internet E-Mail and Browser icons will appear. And BB Messenger will work.
