Hi all..I've been out of the country for a year and out of the pearl loop so to speak. I'm wondering what I've missed...I have the os 4.2 that came with my phone (I bought it unlocked from TRUE in Thailand). I know there were some features to the OS that I didn't like (such as the media player...ugh!, and the fact that the alarm doesn't play mp3 songs for more than 3 seconds before repeating itself..ie, it doesn't play the whole song). Have there been any updates to these things that anyone knows about? Is there an OS that others would recommend I upgrade to?

Any thoughts?
Thanks!

I've checked the thread but to be honest it doesn't tell you much about the update...like....how can I find what's different to my OS? What features are on there..? Is it worth the upgrade?

If you go to the sticky thread with the latest OS there is a link to take you to previous OS upgrades. Just go back and read through a few of the threads.

Wirelessly posted (8800: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8310/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

The ringtone deal is not an OS issue. The mp3 needs to be under 30 seconds long, and less than 512kb in size. Then set your ringtone to one ring in your profiles. It will play up to 15 seconds which is the carrier default time to voicemail, unless you get that lengthened by calling your carrier.

There is a faq about this, under audio or media, at
