Default "Locking" problem! - 01-01-2008, 10:18 PM

Hey guys, I'm having a very irritating problem with my pearl. I've only had it a short time, but the problem happened 3 times already and today it really got me mad.

Let me try to explain it. When my pearl is locked by pressing the * is fine 99% of the time, but a few times what has happened is that I can't unlock it after. For some reason the * and green button won't do it, the only thing that will unlock the phone is pressing the red button. Once unlocked nothing works, if I press any key it will automatically lock and revert to the time when it first "locked" itself. (the clock goes back to the time when it was first locked)

The only thing that will get the phone working is a battery pull. For example today I locked the phone by pressing * after about 15 minutes I wanted to make a call so I try to unlock it.... * green, nothing. I try it a few times but nothing happens, I press the red button and the phone unlocks (clock displays 2:11)

After pressing any other button, the phone locks itself back again and while locked the clock displays 2:05, which my guess is when the phone locked. Turning the phone off and then on doesn't help, only a battery pull does.

What can this be? do I have a defective pearl, or its a feature I don't know how to use. Thank you for the help, and sorry for making it so long.

PS: it's my first so I'm still a litle ignorant about this system.

Sounds like a glitch in the OS. I haven't heard anyone else report this so not sure if it's a bug in all the OS's or not. Are you running the latest version of the OS?

I suggest updating your OS using this thread:

Have you tried to restore your pearl back to factory settings? If that doesn't work I would think you got a defective device.

Best of luck.
