Default seperating sms and email messages

Please Login to Remove!

Hi

My bos recently bought a blackberry pearl, and he would like to arrange it so his emails are only visible if he clicks the e-mail button, right now he can also see them when he selects messages.

he would also like if they weren't counted on the messages counter on the "desktop"

does annyone know where in the settings of the device i could arrange this?

thank you verry much

go to mailbox, options, and general options. Something like. Email and messages share same folder, choose no.

I'll be more specific.. if my BB device wasn't currently in the progress of flashing firmware.. ;p

This is on my 8320 but i'm pretty sure that my 8100 was the same... Open your mailbox go to menu > options > general options... The last one in the list should be "SMS and Email Inboxes:"... I think it defaults to "Theme Controlled" but if you change it to "Seperate" then you will have an inbox for email and an inbox for SMS on your home screen...

What OS version are you running? That option is only available in OS versions 4.2.1.xxx and above.

It is a 8703e with Version 4.1.0.377
I just activated this phone yesterday.
I would think it would have the latest version.
Something's not right.
Any thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks for your reply.

Thank you very much for clarifying that for me.
I don't think I'll upgrade, seeing there are some issues with it (even though there are some benefits).
It seems the upgrade still doesn't cleanly separate SMS and Email messages into two separate icons on the homepage.
I guess we'll still need to wait, since there's no clean way to do this.
