Default Unable to run Destop Manager

Please Login to Remove!

I havea windows vista machine, i just bought the blackberry pearl, I tried to install the DM software from the included CD, it installed fine with no errors, however when I try to run it, all I get is a quick box flashing on the screen and then nothing happens, I uninstalled and reinstalled and the same thing happened. SO i went to blackberry website and downloaded v4.3 installed it and the same thing, just a queick flash of a box on the screen then nothing.
I tried v4.2 sp2 and also v4.2 sp1
Both with no luck,
I called AT@T and they could not support the software end, so they transferred me to blackberry helpdesk, I was told by the lady that answered she would put me through to someone that could help but there was a 50 min wait, so i waited and waited, and finally got someone, we spent nearly 2 hours installing and uninstalling all the different versions. he was even remotely accessing my machine. and caould come up with nothing
He said he would keep investigating and email me with more information.
I go the email with the following link
BlackBerry Search Results
along with this i got another email telling me to create a new profile as an administrator and try to install that way
well, i did this and again installed all 3 versions and not one of them worked.
can someone please, please help me get DM installed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks

I not sure but I don't think you need a profile as an admin. you need to run it as admin. Right click on the app. and run as admin.

I had this happen before, use the add remove programs, redownload and then try and run as admin. that's the best I have right now, it worked for me.

Which version of Vista do you have? I run Home Premium on my laptop and it runs perfectly fine. What do you mean when it says quick flashing box? Any error message? May be problem with system requirements or such things, there are people shipping out crappy boxes with Vista... Go to your control panel and go to Add/Remove Programs, uninstall it. Then go to your hard drive and the locate the folder and delete it completely. Usually it's in C:\Program Files I believe *I don't use typical settings so I can't check for you*

I have Vista Ultimate and 4.2 installed and runs fine on mine. I never thought I would go to Vista, but it runs better than XP now that it's tweaked.

I just got off the phone with blackberry tech support again, we have tried everything under the sun to get this stupid desktop manager install and run.
We have uninstalled and went thorugh and manually deleted any remaining directories, files, registry entries etc.... and reinstalled again, we have tried registering ATL.DLL and RIMDeviceManagerps.dll
I dont think that there is anything left to try :( the tech, pretty much told me there is nothing else that can be tried, he has consulted with others in his group and they cannot find a way to get it to run either.
we ran msconfig and disabled everything from starting up at bootup, and tried to reinstall again NOTHING WORKS!!! :(
I even tried installing from the hidden administrator profile that is in vista,

I do not get any errors at all, it installs fine with no installation errors, but when i run desktop manager, i get a box that flashes on the screen , it is almost like there is a popup blocker or something running ... stopping it from running
we have even tried changing the compatibility mode to windows xp, windows 2000 and even windows 98/me and that didnt work either,
I have unstalled as administrator, and as normal, i have tried to run as administrator and as normal.
does anyone have any ideas?
this really suX0rs!!!

Do you have another USB port on your computer that you can try? Not sure if that will work but its worth a try.

Sounds like DM is trying to use another program to open up as.

If the DM is on your desktop, hold the shift button and right click on the icon then click on "open program with" You may not need to hold the shift button tho

It may be defaulting to open with another program.

Sound like a popup blocker is cancelling the program from opening. They'll do that. Disable your blocker. It may be in Windows, depends on your pc.

Could try uninstalling it and then clean your registry, then reinstall. Have you also tried running it in compatibility mode?
