Default Help-Crosshair Symbol on the main screen?

Please Login to Remove!

I'm currently using the "Today" theme.
On the main screen...
above the "messages" icon and below the clock is a little "crosshair" graphic that has radio waves coming off the right side of this.

Any idea what this is? It seems like it may mean that location is turned on but I can't find an option to turn this off.

TIA

There are obviously benifits to this but will this drain my battery faster than usual? If so where can I turn this option off?

you cannot remove it completely. it is a requirement by the FCC. it wont drain your battery any faster unless you go in and turn the location based support always on. this will only have a very slight impact though

It will not drain your battery faster. I have it on mine and still have excellent battery life. I think the only time it is active is when 911 is dialled.
