Default Please Help Newbie?

Dear Members,

I have BB Pearl 8100 from O2 UK & want to upgrade its hand held software from sw version 4.2.0.64 to 4.2.1.107 but I want to upgrade it with no brand sw,I mean original RIM sw.Please help me that may I do this or not ?

the branding on the software has nothing to do with the blackberry. you can load any carrier OS onto your device and it will look the same as it does now, just with the enhancements of the new OS.

Sith is correct. RIM releases all the updates anyway, and the carriers decide when to release them. So ALL the updates are direct from RIM.

But aren't themes tied to carriers? If they are used to one and want to use it won't they need to unlock the themes if the are using another carriers release?

But to echo Sith and Jeremy, the OS release is written by RIM and is the same in all cases.

Unlocking vendor themes involves editing a particular file. I believe the steps to unlocking vendor themes in on BlackBerryFAQ.com.

They are but I just didn't want the OP to be suprised if they skipped that step and they wound up stuck with another vendors theme is all.
