Default Emails deleting themselves? - 01-16-2008, 07:48 PM

I have checked every setting on this pearl and for some reason it deletes certain emails. I dont understand how it can pick and choose which ones it wants to keep and delete? It is on drugs? Maybe. Is it aggitating the **** out of me? Yes! What the hell is wrong with this thing? All help is very appreciated.

after following those steps do a battery pull and then go to options > status and tell us the file free.

3mb? that is very very low, you should have at *least* 3 times that free. what third party apps do you have installed.

on my 8130 with 4 apps installed i am sitting at over 20mb free. with less than 10 you will notice some performance changes, and when you are very low the device will try and free up memory on its own to keep functioning (aka deleting emails)

YIKES! My device starts freaking out when I have >10MB free.

As well as 3rd party apps.....
- How many themes do you have installed?
- Do you have your camera set to save pics to the microSD card?
- Do you have a microSD card?

You definately need more space.....

You obviously haven't followed the instructions in the links I posted. I KNOW number four will help you out, if the others don't give you enough free memory. As Sith said, that's 3Mb and is almost nothing as far as necessary free memory goes. You need to get that device cleaned out or you will continue to lose emails and call logs.

Default does this explain losing ALL emails too? - 01-19-2008, 05:13 PM

Hi All

I've had my 8130 for about 2 months now... just last night I noticed that ALL my emails were gone, except for saved ones. Today I noticed that ALL my text messages were gone, and ALL my call logs too. In fact, I missed 2 calls a few minutes ago and when I went to see who called me, the call log was empty...

I can perfectly understand if it's running out of memory that it might delete the OLDEST messages... but I'm doubtful that low memory explains losing ALL my messages and logs, does it?

I checked the status and had 6MB free (after losing everything). I've now changed my calendar to retain 60 days and my messages to retain a few months worth.

I just realized that right before this happened, I had a weird sync experience (it was trying to delete 100+ appointments in my outlook) so I hit the "re-sync" button, which claims it restores deleted stuff if it still exists on either the BB or Outlook. So maybe a ton of old appointments (>60 days old) got re-added to the BB after the OS tried to delete them... and somehow all those re-added appointments took priority over the more recent emails and sms?

Maybe I should get a memory card...

Thanks for any ideas you might have
Adam

6Mb is not enough. You want at least 15 and preferably 20. Also, use of the application switcher will kill it too. I say that many BBMessenger convos will do it. Read through my optimize your BB thread in my signature. That should help.

Yes. That is why you want as much memory free as possible. Just follow the information linked above and you should never have another deleted email issue.
