Default Mark as read?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All!

When I mark a message as read in Outlook it does not do the same on the blackberry, so at the end of each day I have to manually mark as read about 50 emails on the blackberry which is getting to be very tedious!

Is there a setting on the BES which I need to change to get it to sync the mailbox from the device?

I usually mark everything as read and then move messages to a pst file. So they certainly should not show up as being unread on the handheld.

If you are on BES I would ask your I.T. Department to check it.

In your inbox, scroll to the very top so the day's date is highlighted. Click the track ball. Choose - "Mark Prior Opened". This will mass open everything from the date you clicked back. No need to open each and every message.

I don't understand why it wouldn't work the other way around. If I read new emails on BB, my OUTLOOK views it as READ. However, if I read new emails on OUTLOOK, BB doesn't recognize it as read. Why not?

So that's what that does. I have two mail accounts that I share with another BB user and it seems to be that if he hasn't yet opened the messages, once my BB reconciles, mine get marked as unopened aswell. Is there any way to make it so that doesn't happen anymore? Now that I now about that, I don't mind as much as I have to go and open about 50 messages, but I was just wondering if you have any ideas.

also you can if you hold [caps] as you scroll down you can select a large group of items one by one and then when you use the [menu] key you can apply that function, such as mark as opened, to all of the selected messages

I'm on BIS vs. BES and don't see "Mark Prior Opened" option. I would love that though, have a ton of unread and it's a real pain to Caps scroll.

Feeling stupid here... So I'm running 4.5.0.37 on a Curve, and I tried several different themes and I'm still not seeing the option? Missing from 4.5? What's interesting is that under the General Options in message options, I see a "Confirm Mark Prior Opened" which I have set to no, but I'm not seeing the option when I hit the menu button, only "Mark Unopened".

you have to hit the menu key on a date to get that option to show, not on a message.

You cursor must be position on a date line in the message folder in order to use this option. Put it on the line and hit Menu>Mark Prior Opened.

You have to highlight the date - NOT a message. If you are on a date, you will see the option.
