Default 8130 Static Noise

Please Login to Remove!

I recently got the Pearl from Verizon and I noticed during calls that there was some static in the background. It wasn't very noticeable if the person on the other end was talking, but in between rings or if the other person is silent there was definitely some static. So I exchanged my first Pearl for a second one and this one was has the same problem only it's even more noticeable. Am I just extremely unlucky that both of my Pearls have had this or is a feature (defect?) on all Pearls?

i had this problem about 2 years ago. it was not the device in my case. it was a bad something or another in the cell tower near where i live. they sent a guy out who switched out a part in the tower and all was fine from that point on. they guy even called me when he finished the job to see if i was happy. it took a week of calling customer support but i finally got the regional manager. test this theory by making a call a few miles away and see if it goes away.

I tried what you suggested and it didn't make any difference. The static was still there.

The only other thing i can think of is to check the phone settings.
here are mine:

phone options -> enhanced audio -> "set to enabled"

phone options -> general options -> enhance call audio -> "set to normal"

Static can also be caused by a defective SIM card. But to my knowledge Verizon does not use SIM cards in their devices.

Are you using a Bluetooth headset at all? What about the wired headset that came with the Pearl?

Since you're having the same issue with two different devices it's time to look at what those two devices had in common and go from there. I doubt if this is a phone issue.

I wasn't using a bluetooth headset or the wired headset. The static was coming through when just using the phone itself.

I got both phones at the same store (a few weeks apart). Could it be that the particular store got a bad batch?

I just the settings to what you have and it didn't make a difference. Still the same static in the background. I tried a friends Razr and it didn't have the static so I don't think it has anything to do with Verizon. Looks like a phone issue.
