Default A few weeks into it and still a few questions

Please Login to Remove!

I'm a new user and I'm pretty thrilled with my 8130 from VZW. The clerk told me to forget SureType and I was pretty freaked out when I played with it but others here encouraged me to persevere and they were right. I would recommend anyone give it a few hours and you will like it. The keyboard is still silly small to me but I find I use my thumb and finger nails and it works very well. The music and video are pretty wild and the email is lightening fast.

I have sent myself an email with an exel attachment and I can read it but is there a way to save to the phone to have handy and maybe send on later? I see people making folders but how do you get docs in and out of them?

Thanks. These forums have been a huge help.

Glad you stuck out SureType. It's the only way to go in non qwerty keyboards! Storing documents can be done on a Media Card but that is the only way unless you purchase third party software that will allow you to view and modify them.

How do I get to the Media Card from the phone? I have a word doc and an exel doc now stored on the card in a folder called docs. I can see it from my computer when mass storage is enabled but how do i get to them on the phone?

Sorry to be so lame but.... I am!

Clerks that "don't recommend" SureType just don't know how to use it. They do a huge dis-service to the customer.

Just copy it like you would copy any file...drag-n-drop, or right-click and copy/paste to the folder on your computer where you want it.

If you don't have a micro SD media card in the Pearl, I think the only way is via the BB Desktop Manager, using the Media Manager to access the folders on the Pearl.

I don't think the Pearl's device memory folders are visible via Mass Storage in Windows, so you can't get to them via Windows Explorer.

You should consider getting a Micro SD card...small ones (2GB) are just a few bucks, and allow you to store pictures and music, and you can't shoot any video w/out a memory card.

redflea is correct. you cannot view the folders on the device via windows, you have to use media manager.

So I did save these files in a folder on my SD media card.
I could see word and exel files when they were attachments to an email. I could open them and they looked great. But I can't open them from the media card?

Nope. You can open them with an app called BeamBerry, though.
