I have a problem when I receive a call that some of the numbers do not display the caller's name even though the contact is in my phone book. In some cases, the name appears with one call but doesn't appear another time.

I had a really old firmware version and when I imported my contacts I ended up with four and five entries from people. I thought this was the problem so I updated the firmware and am working through my 3000 odd entries in the address book to have only one entry but it is still happening with even those with one entry.

I have updated firmware and now using the latest approved for my provider (V4.2.1.101)

Any ideas all you BB experts as it is really annoying when you don't recognise a number!

Do you use password protection? (Options->Security->General) If so, did you select "Yes" for Include Address Book? With this option, you will only see the number come up and not the name if the phone is locked.

Don't use password protection so that ain't it.

What is also puzzling is the fact that sometimes the name shows up and other times just the number appears!!!!!

That is odd, stingray, that it happens or not happens on the same contact.

If all else fails... my advice, completely delete that contact from the BB and reenter it again.

Tried the options listed in the FAQ's........now I have to watch and wait!! Will report back on this.

I have same problem with my caller identity of sms. My carrier is in Morrocco, so de country code is +212, local code "0" and phone numers in 8 digits.
Do I have to set all my contacts (above 600) in the format: 212xxxxxxxx (local code is not inserted when setting numbers with country code)?

It seems to be hard to do all this job, BB is knowon as smart and intelligent phone, so there is please another way to make him understand, what a simple GSM phone can do easely?

You should not need your country code *212, in the contact phone number, when you have your Smart Dialing set as stated in the FAQ.

yOU NEED TO CALL YOUR CARRIER IT HAS TO BE ACTIVATED ON THEIR END SO ITS PROBABLY NOT OR THEY NEED TO TOGGLE IT!

I've called my carrier, and he told me, that they have nothing to do.
I've tryed to act like mentionned in the faq, set my smart dialing, but, no way to correct this issue. The fact is that, sometimes, the caller identity of some sms apears, and sometimes not (i have only the phone number). I'll keep in touch searching above the internet, and let U know if i have a solution.

It has nothing to do with your carrier activating it or "toggling" it.

Well I changed the options as directed in the FAQ's and so far so good. Any number that has come up has displayed the name.

Not sure if any of the previous calls where the name did not show up have occurred since I get so many calls but at the moment I am happy
