Default Keep Losing my call log

Please Login to Remove!

Hello All,

I have an AT&T bberry pearl and quite frequently now I keep loosing my call log. It just wipes out. Does anyone know why this would be happening. I have hard booted the device but that does not seem to work. Any other troubleshooting steps I need to do.

I miss my call log

Thanks

I am looking on my device and it says:

15050364 bytes free

How can this still be that this would happen?

is that before or after you followed the instructions in that link? if its after you should be fine, if its before then there is another issue with the device, or you are leaving multiple applications running at the same time.

It can happen at 15mb. You need to try and keep it about 18mb if possible.
I would try to get 20-25MB free....

This is after i lost my entire call log. I have just 2 now in the call log. I have not tried what was stated in that link but I will do so later tonight.

How would I know what applications are open or hanging? I also hard booted this device last night and once it came back up I turned it off and just turned it on this morning so I am hard pressed to believe that there is any applications still running

The interim solution is to watch your memory closely and reboot to free it up. To see what items are running in the background press Alt + Esc, and while holding alt down scroll through the list.

You really need to free memory. Start with the sample video and un-used languages, that will get you a lot!

apps that are open can be viewed either with holding alt and hitting the back key, or going to menu, switch app

Wow So I have a lot open then:

Camera
Messages
Home Screen
Phone
Browser
Blackberry Messenger
Beamberry
Push To Talk

How do I get it down to just the bare minimum. Is there a startup folder similar to start.cf in the unix world

PTT, BBM, Home Screen, Browser, Phone and Messages always stay open on ATT devices. You can free up memory easily if you remove the PTT, the instructions are posted up in the link i gave you

The base 5 cannot be removed from start-up, this includes:
Messages
Home Screen
Phone
Browser
BB Messenger
PTT (can be removed, search for it)

The others like camera can be stopped by closing them properly. Always use Menu>End (Or close) or Escape to exit programs. Never use the Red end key as it will leave the program running in the background where it will eat memory!

Review the link about and clear out memory then you won't have to worry as much about whats running!

Seems that beamberry wants to always stay open. I do believe I have a 10 day free trial that expired long ago so I will see aobut deleting that and also using that link to free up some more space.

Would deleting pictures have any bearing on this? I do not think deleting pictures would be counted towards free file space.

Ah i dont have a media card so its all on the device. Its just pics as I dont have music on the device.

I guess its time for some spring cleaning in teh dead of winter. Possibly get myself a media card to move the pictures over to.

Thank you all so very much. I will let you know how I progress

Well after moving most pictures off my blackberry, I was up to 18mb free. I then went through the entire process Sith linked here and removed a lot of language files, etc and now have 30mb free. I believe that should do it. I will look for more to delete later to have a lean and mean bberry.

Thank you all for your tremendous help.

30mb is much more than most people have on their BB. I have about 15 apps installed and i have 22mb and my device works just fine. Glad you got the memory freed up, you should notice a much smoother experience now

I also deleted a few apps like InfoSpace FindIt. It never quite found anything. Now its time to see if there are apps really worth putting on the bbery? You know of any really good ones that you have installed?
