Smile How do I send SMS, MMS, E-mail to a Recipient that's not on my address book?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi I am new to this board and also to the Blackberry Pearl and I have been messing around with the phone trying to find the option on how to send the SMS and MMs and e-mail to other people who are not in my address book. My old Samsung was able to do it; it has a recent list (people who I've sent stuff to recently), search contacts, or I'd be able to type out my own phone number or e-mail etc.

Is there any way I can do that on the Blackberry Pearl? Thanks so much.

From message folder, open menu, select compose email (or SMS . . .) And then just type recipient's address, number or PIN in the To field according to which it is you are sending.

I tried doing that just selecting compose and it automatically takes me to the address book. I don't know how to get rid of that.

It doesn't actually open address book, though, right? Just launches a drop-down window overlayed on the message screen, correct? Just finish typing the address or number. Then click on what you typed to select it.

yeah it opens up a screen with all my contacts. so what you're saying is just type the e-mail address or phone number and then hit ok? I just tried it and it gave me a small window that said "phone" "e-mail" I selected phone and then it took me to another screen that said "One time SMS" is this right?

Also, looks to me that you can click on a number in call log and select send SMS, etc.

I'll have to check an 8100 when I get the chance. Maybe someone else will respond. Sounds like I'm seeing things a little different on my 8700, though. What I did was select compose email from the menu and manually typed email address and then clicked on it. I could have done similar with SMS. I am not asked if it is email or phone when I do this.

Good deal. FYI best thing to do is just play and experiment, and drill down through all the options and menus. Keep the blackberry backed up to your desktop or laptop, and there really isn't anything you can do that you can't recover from (short of physical damage).
