I dont want to do a full blown password, but just a simple keylock on the pad. I dont want this phone dialing numbers when this is in my pocket. my LG vx9800 would have this when it would time out after 30 seconds. just had to hit OK twice to unlock.

A quick search turned this up. You are supposed to know where the search button is by now...

On the 8100, just I just hold down the * key for a couple of seconds. That locks the keyboard. To unlock, hit *, then the green phone button.

There is also a free program out there somewhere, sorry not up for a search right now, that will lock the keyboard x number of seconds after the backlight goes off.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8800/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

You can also hold the mute button on top to put it in standby mode
