Default Tethering my Pearl...HELP!

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all- i have been searching on how to tether my BB to my laptop- which has Vista- and I get all the way to the part where you put in the extra initialization command spot and I am unable to type anything in this box. Any help/advice would be great! i am flying into JFK and have a 4 hour layover and wifi is not free. Thanks so much! qwnbee77

the first thing you have to do is check if you have a tethering plan with your blackberry. if you don't it will be difficult to tether the phone, you might be able to add it and have it up and running before you go, but you might have to download your carriers specific connection manager for this to work, i have the tethering plan with sprint and needed to download thier connection manager in order for it to work, but i have heard of ways that it is done differnetly here on this forum, hope this helps

Can you query the modem? does it give the results it is supposed to? Also are you using bluetooth or USB to tether? Also it looks like some have had success in this thread

If you do a search using the keyword tether, you will get some very informative threads.
