* File size: 97.29MB

https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...B58CE00D1194C9

Select Blackberry 8130 from the dropdown and click Next. Then click the "Download" link that appears at the bottom of the page.

Instructions for installing on any CDMA 8130 from any carrier:

1. Make sure you have the latest version of Desktop Manager installed. It's 4.2 SP2, or Version 4.3, and can be downloaded Click Here. or from the AllTel site linked above.
2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."

If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.

Previous version OS is located here.

sorry to be a noob but is this for the cdma version of the 8130 pearl????

Ok..so I downloaded this update, which went fine. But after the update, I noticed my signal is always 1x, never with the EV or whatever that is, which it was most of the time before. I am on Verizon. So, I decided to download the Verizon version. I unistalled this one from my computer, downloaded verizon's, deleted the vendor file and plugged in. It brought up the pop up screen to update, and I clicked update. But the it says nothing new to add. I can't get this to downgrade for the life of me. It just never gives that option. Anyone have any other ideas? I did the unintstall off my computer like it says somewhere in a post, but it still won't downgrade my phone. Thanks in advance for any help.

Have you tried updating your PRL version on your blackberry by calling *228 [send] & picking option 2? That might help with signal issue.

I have the verizon 8130 and the link i keep seeing in this post states us cellular and on the smithmicro site that verizon usually uses to host the updates it is not there. Does this mean it is not yet released for the verizon version? Or can someone point me in the the direction of a verizon stated link please.

Default 8130 Update for Verizon - 04-08-2008, 04:37 PM

I downloaded the update for Verizon OS for 8130. EV would not show up on my screen and my browser and email would not work. Called Verizon and they walked me through it.

Go to options: Advanced Options: Host Routing Table, then hit menu key and Register Now. After the message window comes up, close out and remove battery for 5 seconds then replace.

Once back on, dial #832 and voice should tell you registered sucsessfully. Hit end and then dial #228 and select option 1. After complete power off phone and power back on. Should work.

I had downloaded the Alltel version for my VZW 8130 and once the VZW version came out I decided to install that instead to see any differences. I noticed better reception and other small stability improvements. Isn't it the same software from both carriers or does each carrier make adjustments?

each carrier tests individual builds. the builds are incremental so they do fix things from previous ones. the base software is the same but there are changes to it. the carriers dont make those changes, RIM does.

i'm not.

:(

already running desktop manager 4.3.0.15
just downloaded and installed bb device software 4.3.0
deleted the vendor.xml file
plugged in my 8100
fired up DM
it synced it's usual stuff

but nothing else...

i then tried running DM's application loader. it detected a timezone patch (no idea how that got there but i installed it) but that's all.

is there something else i should try?

no, OSs can only be loaded onto that device, so 8100 on 8100, etc. there is another sticky at the top of the 8100 forum, for 8100 software.

I would really appreciate some help and I do not know where to go to get it. I am going to copy and paste the instructions for anyone up to the challenge.... also, i have installed Ramble on my BB and that runs great, and can get around on the web pretty well. I can get to the journaling site on Caring Bridge but when I put in an entry it will not "take" to the site. Thank you anyone who is technically into looking into this challenge for/with me. I REALLY appreciate it! Here is what the web site for CB says to do for settings....
ENABLE JAVA SCRIPT

Your Java Scripts need to be enabled to use our service.

Microsoft Internet Explorer:

1. Select Tools from your browser's menu
2. Select Internet Options
3. Click on the Security tab
4. Click on Custom Level
5. Scroll down towards the bottom of the list and find the category Scripting. Make sure that Active Scripting is set to Enable.
6. Click on the Ok button

Netscape:

1. From the Edit menu, select Preferences
2. Select Advanced
3. Select Enable Java. Make sure that Enable native object scripting is turned on
4. Click on the Ok button

Safari for Macintosh:

1. Select Preferences from the Safari menu
2. Click Security
3. Check Enable JavaScript
4. Close the window
5. Click Reload

ENABLE COOKIES

Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0+:

1. Select Internet Options from the Tools menu
2. Click on the Privacy tab
3. Click the Default button (or manually slide the bar down to "Medium") under Settings
4. Click OK

Netscape 7.1/Mozilla 5.0:

1. Select Preferences from the Edit menu
2. Click on the arrow next to Privacy & Security in the scrolling window to expand
3. Under Privacy & Security, select Cookies
4. Select Enable all cookies
5. Click OK

Safari for Mac:

1. Start Safari, and select the Safari menu and choose Preferences
2. Choose the Security tab
3. In the Accept Cookies section, you have 2 options that will work. You can choose Always or Only from sites you navigate to
4. Choose which ever you would prefer
5. Click the Close button.

Also, I have my firewall turned off and was able to set Java etc,
Thank you for your help...Hope this long entry goes in ok!

I was hopeful with that new solution...thanks...but no good! If I good just go back to the prior update, I would be happy, but desktop manager won't let me downgrade...even after deleting the vendor file. Urghhh!! Verizon was pretty much useless in helping!!!

I recently got a new 8130 and had the same issue. I downloaded the software upgrade program from VZW and when I installed it I had to click on the box, where it lists what applications to install, for the browser. After I did that everything worked fine for me.

Also for something that others were talking about earlier. I can view m.youtube.com but can not stream somafm. Never tried before but thought I'd toss that out there. I'm using VZW .97 download.

Default Verizon 8130 OS update 0.60 to 0.97 - Warning Message Before Installation - 05-02-2008, 12:20 PM

I'm wondering if someone can shead some light on the following for me please:

Updating this phone via BB AppLoader - before executing the OS Update - I am presented w/the following warning message <see below>. My Q is what does this mean in terms of what I'll have to reset up after I run this OS update...?

Thanks
