Angry Google Map does not launch

Please Login to Remove!

I have recently purchased a BB Curve 8310. I have downloaded googlemaps 2.0.1 and have reset the permissions / connections to ensure GPS and internet are allowed. I have also re-booted the phone at least twice. I have also reset the GPS location.
When I select the google maps icon in applicatons - at first the bb froze but now nothing happens at all?
Any ideas?

First thing to do would be to try another GPS application.
Google Maps works for most people and should for you as well.

Try BBMaps, or Nav4All.

Do you have a BB Data Plan from your carrier?

I would try another GPS app...

When you go to Options > GPS > menu > Refresh GPS, do you get coordinates?

thanks but I want to use google maps - choosing another application does not seem like a good option when it works for others - my concern is that it is an issue with my BB and as a new user I have no way of knowing that. I would like to persist
thanks for the link - worst case i'll download it

Ok, I wanted you to troubleshoot the issue and see simply if GPS is working correctly, knowing that, it narrows the issue down back to google maps itself.

And I guess you aren't going to check your GPS refresh, either. ok.

But you can do it your way. Not a big deal.

I was having the issue a few days ago that my brand new BB8800 would not refresh at all. After several calls and a trip to the local providers shop they actually reset/enabled the GPS function; from then I have had an exact position of gmaps (not the "tri-angluator" used via GSM towers).

cool - any ideas of what to do next? I have tried to download 2.0.1 a few times and delete and reinstall it but problem persists. Could it be that vodafone have some blocking agent built into the phone to stop me using software other than vodafone compass??
