Unknown Incoming Call
 

Hey all, i just got my Blackberry 8130 and when i get incoming calls, it always shows UNKNOWN CALL. Only when i dial out w/ the contacts number, it'll show their name. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Is the device locked when this happens? Go to Options >Security Options >General Settings and check Content Protection. See if you can set "include address book" to "No."

My setting was already at "NO". Not sure why i'm getting "UNKNOWN CALL"

And still no luck. Still shows Unknown Call when i receive incoming phone calls from ppl in my address book.

Is there another setting that needs to be changed in order to disable the unknown call problem? It's getting annoying when u don't know who's calling you haha. Thanks guys.

actually from the sound of it, the problem is not the blackberry its the service. most callers ID signals require a digital signal. is your house in a bad reception area? have you called your service provider yet? that would be a good start.

Make sure that the numbers in your ohonebook are international.
Like +33567887654

actually this is my problem: all my numbers in address book are in international format (+373681555xx)

when someone from within the country calls me, the display shows 0681555xx only (no name), but the number in question IS in my address book as +373681555xx! :cry: :cry: :cry:

how do i get the name (not the number) of the caller to be displayed?

this is because of wrong Smart Dialing settings
Phone -> Options -> Smart Dialing.






Make sure you set the correct values here, and it should work for you :)
Note: Disregard some of the menu options at the screenshots, they are just previos taken screenshots.

does it mean that i have to change the smart dialing settings every time i cross a national border? i travel quite a lot ...:-(

Yes it does, it might still work tho.. but I believe if you travel to another country with another national number lenght, you will need to edit these settings.. :(

another national number length sometime and ALWAYS another country code :-(
