Default 8130 browser question

Please Login to Remove!

I have had my pearl on verizon for about 2 weeks now. One of the big selling points for me was the ability to go to sites like youtube and watch videos whenever i had a signal. A few days ago i clicked on a video just like i had done every other time i had ever watched anything on the pearl and instead of starting up the video, it went to a white screen with the blackberry logo in the background and after about 5 seconds a message will pop up that says "A problem occurred while trying to render the page" I'm wondering why this stopped so abruptly, i first thought it was something wrong with youtube so i waited to ask, but youtube is working fine on my PC and i'm beginning to think i screwed up some kind of setting on accident. Thanks in advance for your help!

Sounds like you may have turned on Audio Boost...check Options in Media. Turning on Audio Boost has been linked to that particular error message when trying to stream videos.

And I assume you're using m.youtube.com on your Pearl, not the regular site.

that fixed it! thank you so much! i just type in youtube.com on the browser i'm assuming that it redirects me to a mobile version of it, it doesn't look anything like the regular site you get when you are on a PC.

Default My audio boost has always been OFF

My experience with YouTube Mobile has been (1) it didn't seem to ever work, (2) it seemed to work perfectly, (3) it seems to work according to how strong my signal is. I have NEVER had my audio boost turned on, so it's hard for me to accept that audio boost is the culprit. Is it possible that it's entirely coincidental that several of you--and I know of others outside this forum who report the same thing--are having good video performance after shutting off audio boost? Is your video performance holding rock-solid day-after-day?

I learned in statistics class that "correlation does not imply causality"--said more simply, "just because two things happen at the same time doesn't mean one caused the other." But I have to admit it's perplexing that so many people would be experiencing the exact same coincidental occurrences.

If any of you have YouTube Mobile problems AFTER you've turned off the audio boost, please return to report. OR, if you continue to have great performance with audio boost off, please return to report that.

I have been writing about this on a blog of mine. I would post a hyperlink to there but many forum moderators disapprove and they either edit your comment or threaten to ban you. If you Google (in a separate window!) for something like "My BlackBerry Pearl 8130" and "YouTube Mobile" you might find it. Then close that window and return to this excellent forum.

We do not disapprove folks trying to help. Some have just disagreed with you on the fact that you can find all of that information here. If they have edited your posts I am sure it was for good reason. I have been a member much longer that being a mod and I have never had one of my posts edited before. You are welcome to share here but do not need to cast the mods here in a "doom and gloom" light ..we are here to help and do so on our own time and without compensation.

My Best,

E-

Posting a link to another forum or blog is not 'against the rules'. We all want to make sure people get the help they are searching for.

It's all in the attitude of the person who posts the link. Therein can lie the problem.

Let's all help whomever we can.

And why encourage people to to go someonewhere else for help, like your blog, when this forum is perfectly capable of doing just that. It really does appear that you would just interact with users here, rather than each and every one of your post "inviting" users to leave this forum and go elsewhere to get help. Why not help and interact with the other users here?

I asked you in another thread why you don't post your solution here (in that case about the Desktop Manager error). You have refused, instead yet you choose to pick a fight today with the moderators over your petty issue.

What am I missing here? Who are you here at BBF for? it really does not appear it is for the uers here (other than to feed traffic to your site).
