I know someone who has the 8130 and they can't sync with outlook. Whats the reason for this? He called verizon and they told him that it wont be capable of sync for about 2 or 3 months.

What happens when they try to sync?
As noted, you need to specify what he has done/is doing, and the error messages, the version of Outlook he is using, is it personal (home computer) or work computer (using MS exchange), and confirm you mean Outlook and not Outlook Express (which the BB can not sync with), and which version of Outlook (2003 or 2007).
He should install the BB Desktop Manager, connect the BB to the PC using a USB cable, then launch BB DM, select Synchronize, configure what he wants to sync and go.
At one point there was a problem w/Outlook 2007 and DM 4.3. IF that is the case, he can try DM 4.2 SP1 or SP2 from here:
i know he has 2007 on his computer. So that might be the problem. I told him that it will sync and he shouldn't have any problems and I also told him that whoever told him this doesn't need to be working there anymore.

2007 what? Syncing works fine with Office 2007. Maybe he has Windows 2007?
It might be that he hasn't configured Intellisync properly.
DId he configure Intellisync? What version of Desktop Manager?
Some users reported problems syncing Outlook 2007 with DM 4.3, if I remember correctly.
That's why I suggested giving DM 4.2 SP1 or SP2 a try...
