make sure you are not zooming in when taking the image. digital zoom is aweful in general, not just BB specific. the trackball and the volume up/down will zoom in and out.

Is it me or, is the quality of the camera on the 8130 poor? i haven't mastered taking shots in dim light with the flash. Most images come out blurry when I use the flash.

the pearl camera is better than many other 2mp camera in terms of still images. Certain versions of the OS have much lower FPS on the video recording though

I'm not buyin' that yet...I've seen down to 8 FPS on .71, up to almost 14 FPS on .97, and in between on both.

There may be a consistent difference, but I haven't seen it documented yet.

The Pearl 8130 camera is an OK camera overall from what I've seen...the shutter lag is slow, so you need to make sure your subject is still (not a good camera for kid pics) and has decent lighting.

I tried US Cell .97 and got about 8 FPS
then
I tried AllTel .81 and got about 8 FPS
then
I went back to what I think orginally came with the device from Verizon .60
I downloaded the version .60 from the VZW website. My unit now says 4.3.0.60 in the "About" screen.

I am now getting on avergage 15 FPS

All tests were run using the Apple Software for movie playback.

Now I am curious, was there ever a .71 ?

Do these devices ship with .60? I can not remember, I never looked at my device software before I started all these upgrades and downgrades.

Device's I've Owned:
7250
8830 - unlocked
8130 (current)

I believe Sprint was the .71 version.
