IM & DATA Plan Questions.....
 

More newby questions. Currently I do not have a data plan with AT&T. I can sms message out and my addressee will get my message, but no one can send anything back to me. It just won't show up. Is this the BB or AT&T's software/network settings doing this. Ideas?? Previous phone, a RAZR, worked fine with IM. And when I got the BB, their was no changes made to my plan.

Also, if I go with AT&T's 200 message data plan per mo. Will I be able to do any internet surfing, (I realize not much before I'd have to start paying), or just IMing?
Very confused here when the term "data plan" or "generic plan" is used in the faq section. I'd like to be able to check weather, scores etc. from my Pearl without having to pay the $30.00 per mo. all the time just for a little online time.

A generic data plan is whatever carrier data service for other mobile devices other than blackberry that is not a blackberry data plan. The blackberry data plan is required to use the blackberry branded services such as the native blackberry browser, push email, blackberry maps, etc.

I know zip about AT&T's plans, so can't help you there.

its labeled a blackberry plan on att, 29.99/mo. It will not be labeled a mediaNet plan

I kinda figured that the BB data plans were for BB branded services. You confirmed that thought.
Maybe someone else will chime in about the other questions I had.....

Thanks for the reply. Now my big problem is I can send a text message, but none come to my phone. They're lost in space somewhere. Phone or AT&T, setting/problem??
