Default T-Mobile & 8120 Data Plan Questions

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, I'm currently inerested in purchasing my first BB. I have been rumors that say that the 8120 will be landing for T-Mobile on Feb 18th. I was wondering if it would be required to have a data plan in order to use the BB or can I just skip out on it. Seeing that the 8120 will be wi-fi equiped, and that I'm always in wi-fi zones at school or home, will I need the data plan? I don't really plan to use the phone for much other than typical calls and sms texts.

Welcome to the forums!

Yes you will need the BB Data Plan for most data, and for full and complete internet use, and for rim mail.

Check more here if you don't believe me.

Thanks for the welcome! And an additional thanks for the quick reply! I don't really plan to use my BB for much other than calls and SMS texting, and wouldn't it be possible to check things like weather and my yahoo emails through the wi-fi connection? I'm in a wi-fi zone literally 24/7. Being a college student supporting himself, I'm quite limited on funds and would rather not get a data plan if I don't need to. This phone looks so great I just can't resist it either.

I don't think Yahoo Messenger will work at all without a data plan. You may be able to get Opera Mini browser to work with the TCP/APN settings.

Good luck. I know you think it all should work with WiFi, but you do need a data plan. WiFi just basically enables a faster connection, and it were all free, it would be nice.

Also, you might need TMobile's "Feature Enabler" enabled on your account for Opera to work.
