Default clears call log and messages

Please Login to Remove!

I just got my pink BB pearl on friday and today is the first day that it is doing this, but it completely clears all my call log and messages right after they come. It even told me I had a missed call and I clicked view, but it took me to a blank screen because it deleted it. I just got the phone, so there shouldn't be a memory problem. I went into the store and they just told me to get on here and ask about it because others are having the same problem. Since I just got my phone, which is my first blackberry, it is frustrating and i would really just like to know how to fix this if I can. Please help! Thanks.

Welcome to the Forums.

With one THAT new, correct it should not be a memory issue. But I am most afraid it is just that. Look at Options > Status. What is the File Free number?

You got a ways to go... you need to get it up around 15-16mb+ free.

Keep at the FAQ links I sent, you will be fine. Make sure your camera is set to save pictures, video to the Media Card.

Go buy one asap. If you just want to save pix and 20-30 songs get 1gb. Cheap. But you gotta get one for the pix you take and get sent, or you'll have memory problems unless you delete them all the time. Use JSanders link to free up memory until you have at least 1`5mb. Pull the battery with it on and see.

okay. my friend has the same phone and she said they put a memory card in hers whenever she bought it, but they did not do that for me. Is that something I should go into the store and see about them doing for me?

You will have to buy one. If you buy it at a normal retail store, like your carrier, they probably will install it for you. Or a Best Buy might. You want a 1, 2, or 4gb Micro SD Media Card.

Yes, if you do the steps in the link above and move all of your pics and music to the Media Card.

I am also having this problem, but I have not added any media (pictures/mp3s/ringtones/etc).

I have downloaded the GMail and Google Maps apps, would this take up enough memory to delete messages and call logs?

It was at 86824. I did a hard reset which put it at 18289884. That was about 30 minutes ago, now it is at 17262072. In the 30 minutes or so that the memory dropped, I didn't use any apps or receive any calls/messages. Would this be considered a memory leak? If so, I guess I'll just consult that link above.

That's a serious leak, but after the pull you have a lot of memory (I assume you have a card). See what's running on your phone now (hold alt key-lower left, and press back-right of trackball). Always running are phone, messages, browser, homescreen, BB messenger. Close the other stuff and see how your leak does then.
