Unhappy Cant send sms texts. not even an option for it

Please Login to Remove!

i've had my phone for a while and use to send texts on it. then one day i hooked it up to the desktop manager and it no longer let me send texts. i can receive them, but when i try to reply or even send a new one, its not even in the options. any ideas why? also, before i never had to enter a password for my phone. i tried to disable it on the security menu and it has a little red lock next to it and it won't allow me to change it!!!

Is this a work device? Are you connected to a BES server? If so, then they may have a policy that disables SMS messaging and possible other things.

First thing to try then is rebooting the device. Just take the battery out for a second and then try sending a SMS message.

Call your provider and see if SMS was removed from your account

Look in the stickys at the top of this forum. I have a feeling that when you connected it to Desktop Mgr and synched it something in the application list got unchecked/checked unknown to you. What I would do is call your provider and make them get you a BB dude to talk to. I bet that person could fix it fast. Don't waste your time in the stores. Those bozos can barely turn the phone on. All they wanna do is sell you something, they can't fix jack.

Have you accidentally or intentionally removed some necessary cod files from your \shared folder on the desktop to save space on your BB? Almost sounds like when you connected to the desktop it might have updated your OS as well and maybe removed something?

Not saying you did but worth a look-see.

Cheers!

Who's desktop Manager did you connect it to? It sounds like there is an IT policy on your device. The little red lock means that an IT policy is in place blocking you from making a change. You're going to need to remove the policy.

Remove IT Policy

What happens when you try to receive them? Are these SMS or MMS messages? Are you able to send one to yourself and does it come to your phone?
