Default bluetooth drops after data loss

Please Login to Remove!

I have a blackberry 8130 (vzw) that was super until a week ago.

I hooked up the blackberry to a usb cable to sync outlook as i had done many times before, but this particular time, something became corrupted.

All of my contacts/appointments/tasks/etc. were deleted (thankfully, i was able to sync them back). however, now i can't pair a bluetooth headset for more than a few minutes. i've used two different headsets and each causes the pairing to drop, and the bluetooth receiver on the phone to shut off.

I tried to fix this by removing the profile for the headsets, and pulling the battery, however this did not work.

did i corrupt some necessary file? any ideas? thanks!

What release of the OS are you on? You could try upgrading the OS to Telus, Sprint, Alltel, or US Cellular release, and see if that resolves the problem. There's a link to the download and instructions for the most recent 8130 OS release (4.30.0.97) at the top of this forum.

thanks... I should have considered that, but it slipped my mind. currently i'm running the stock vzw firmware. i've done firmware flashes before (moto razr and 8703e); so i'm not fundementally opposed to the idea.

It won't hurt, might help, and will fix a couple of things (most notably, starting BT calls when the Pearl is in standy, and avoiding need to confirm going into standby). Any VZW-specific stuff remains...

in case anyone has a similar problem down the road, the upgrade of the firmware didn't help because i had used the backup/restore feature to put all of my settings back.

I had to do a factory reset, and then just sync my pim info back over. now the headset remains paired as before the problem started.
