Default Pearl in Silent Mode: still "beeping" service messages

Please Login to Remove!

I have a problem with my pearl.
I am italian, and I have a particular network service with my mobile provider. The sim card sends service messages to the radiotowers around, localize my position, and when I am at my home address applies a lower calling rate.

Every-time the pearl shares informations with the radio towers, and it receives the sim-messages, the blackberry "beeps" even in silent mode, -it happens very often- (and the same in vibration-silent profile). The kind of sim messages that makes my BB "beep" are not the normal sim-received-inbox-messages, but the ones that gives only the notification on a little pop-up window above home screen.
I have tried to adjust the profiles, but without any result.
Someone have similar problems? Any solutions?

Thank-you!

I'm curious. I assume your silent is what is quiet on my bb. Do you also have an "off" profile, and do you get the alert in that profile?

yes, "silent" is "quiet" ;D

If I use the "off" profile the BB goes offline, so it does not receive the (network related) sim messages.

That is interesting. On my model & OS, the only difference between quiet and off is that quiet allows exceptions, and the LED alert, and off turn off all alerts, exceptions and LED included. The off profile does not turn off the radio.

The reason I asked is it sounded to me like the notification you are getting is not a profiled alert.

Exactly! I have an italian tim's 8120 v 4.3.039 os
I can not find anywhere a "sim notification alerts" setup.

I think that the only solution will be changing the operetor profile.
Thank-you!

ps. let's hope with the upcoming firmware, someone says it is a question of days, is it true?

I know I wasn't much help. I was thinking the sim alert you speak of might be tied to another, in the the voice mail alert is linked with SMS alert (at least on my 8700). So if all profile alerts are muted and you still get the sim alert, then seems to me it is independent of profile altogether. But the sim alert function was totally unknown to me before I read your post. Maybe someone will come along and provide more insight.
