Setting up Gmail
 

I have searched, but can't find the specific answers to my questions.

I currently have my Pearl set up to receive my emails that are sent to my school address (.edu). This is definetly not instantanous and takes anywhere from 10-25 minutes which I here is normal.

I have also read and heard that if I set up a Gmail account, I will receive my emails near instantly.

My question is...do I just go into my email setup on my BB and delete my .edu email and add my Gmail one after making it?

If so, I have also read that you should create your Gmail account on your BB and not from your computer. Does it really make a difference?

it doesnt make a difference. its much easier to set up gmail on the computer, then use the blackberry website to integrate the account

All I know to do is have my emails fowarded from .edu to Gmail...

You can use the BIS site to push up to 10 accounts to your device at the same time and for no additional cost. Just login to the BIS site and add your Gmail account as your did for your one at school!

I have a question about the BIS site. I didn't use it to set up my school account, I just used the email setup on my phone.

I tried getting on the BIS site. I never created a username and password so I thought I could register. When I tried, it said I could not access the HTML site on my computer and to try my BB.

Is this normal?

Also, in my status on my BB, which ESN number am I supposed to use?

ok here is a question do you have a blackberry email if you then that is your user ID . if no then you need to create one. i dont think there is any other way to go into the online bb site and set up your emails. even on your phone to log in you need a user id and password. once you have the g mail set up then have all the emails forwarded to gmail. its instent with gmail

It's just not letting me create a BB account on the BIS site.

using the device setup wizard will take you to the BIS site. it just does so on the device and not on the pc. go ahead and use the email setup wizard again to add your gmail.

And if I would ever need to use the BIS website, why can't I log in?

You should call your provider and they should give you the info you need. I use AT&T and I had to log into an AT&T/Blackberry site that enabled me to put 5 emails through my pc. You can do this through your set up wizard but I found it to be easier on the PC through the provider website.

Here's what I did. I went to google on my PC and created my Gmail account. Then I went on the email setting (setup) on my BB and added my Gmail address.

I also deleted my previous .edu address from this.
I then logged into my .edu account and enabled fowarding to Gmail.

It seems to be working ok, but when I hit delete from both handheld and mailbox I don't believe that it is being deleted from my .edu or Gmail.

Check your settings on the BIS website.

I am not able to log into my BIS site.

Should I do like Rolo said and call my provider?

I am sure Verizon has a set up on your acct./profile that will enable you to check what emails you have set up on your Blackberry just like AT&T has on mine.

Did you ever set up a username and password through your handset? You have to do this before you can access your account through your computer browser.

No, I did not.

You have to set up your user name and password through the Pearl first...

Also, you can set up your Gmail account so that replies from it appear to come from your school address (if you want to do that). Look at the settings options in your Google email account.

Can you tell me what I have to do to set up my user name a pw on my phone?

Click on the Email Settings icon on your BB. The browser will open and will go to the login screen. The first thing you will see (you will always see this, even after you have set up a username and password) is "New Users". You will see a hyperlinked text that says "Create New Account". Click on it and it will allow you to choose a username and a password. This username then becomes your email address for your Blackberry email account (username@vzw.blackberry.net). This username and the password will also be the login info for the website access.

As mentioned before, you have to go through this step first on your handset before the website will allow you to log in through your computer.
