My BB is not reconciling with Outlook

I have a couple of issues with email reconciliation.

a. When I click on 'Menu', I do not any more see the 'Reconcile now' option. It used to be there before but no longer.

b. Under 'Options' and 'Email Reconciliation', I do not any more see the option of "Wireless Reconciliation"

c. I only see "Delete On" option which has been set to "Mailbox & Handheld"

As a result of email reconciliation not working, I am duplicating my work as 'unread' messages are piling up on BB where as I have read them on my laptop.

Has anyone faced this problem? What is the solution?

Wirelessly posted (7100t: BlackBerry8300/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

That sounds like either a BES problem or a configuration problem. If its BES youl have to go thru I.T. It could be an artifact of Desktop Manager too. I think when you install/upgrade DM you have BES or BIS options which could interfere with reconciliation.

Have you tried a hard boot? Swearing at it?

Thanks. I have alerted my IT department as well. But awaiting response.

I am wondering what could have caused the reconciliation to stop so suddenly. It was working fine till 4 days ago.

Incidentally, what's a hard boot? is it harmful for the instrument?

I think by "boot" he means "reset" and there are two kinds of resets.

Soft Reset: Simply pull out the battery for 30 seconds and put it back in. The phone is designed so that when battery power is lost, it will recycle the memory and run a security test to ensure the cpu hasnt corrupted. This is a normal fix for freezes and when the phone starts acting up.

Hard Reset: In simple terms, it means reflashing the phones software. Sometimes programs that were installed or uninstalled corrupt system files or put/add/leave files that confuse the cpu and it will corrupt the whole device. This can be a lengthy process to do and takes about 45 mins to complete. You would need desktop manager and the new OS software. If you are on a BES then you need to get with your IT group and have them reflash the phone.

By hard boot I meant pull the battery. It's like rebooting a computer - all memory gets cleared and the machine totally shuts down and reloads the OS at startup.

A soft boot is akin to the sleep or hibernate function of a computer. Not all memory gets cleared. The typical power down on a BB (holding the power button) is a sleep, not a full power off.

Hard boots once a quarter can clear up kooky issues.

Just make sure to leave the device powered on anytime you pull the battery to reset it. If you turn it off first then you get nothing from pulling out the battery. :)

I had this same issue. I found somewhere (can not find now) the instructions to fix it.

It has to do with the service book.

If I remember, you go to service books under advanced options. Delete the Desktop CMME service book. Them as soon as you do that undlete it. Then have your IT guy send the service book to your phone. (This step may not be necessary but I did it anyway)

It will take about 5 minutes then your phone should start to reconcile.

I have done this to 3 8100's now and it worked on all of them.

cmime is for calendar - desktop sync is for the rest

CMME is for calendar and will address issues with calendar sync. For your reconcile issue, delete the desktop sync and repush. This should bring back the mail store settings to where you can see all 3 settings in the email reconciliation. Usually a reboot will fix this (sometimes). If not, delete the desktop sync and have your BB Admin repush the service book. You will see the Desktop Sync re-populate in the service books and you should then be able to see all settings again...

Good luck....

A hard boot actually refers to the process of giving your BB a "hard boot" across the floor when all other remedies have failed!!
