Question Anyone with a Pearl 8130 on Verizon?

Please Login to Remove!

I have a few questions for ya.

So, I was wondering about data plans.

First, does this phone support Verizon's Web 2.0? or do I have to purchase a different data plan?

Second, what plan you you have, and how much is it monthly?

Thanks in advance, you all seem pretty knowledgeable over here.

The BB has a BB browser, that uses a data plan, if it's just for personal use then you will want the 29.99 data plan, unlimited up to 5gb. This gives you email and the web. I would recomened one of the voice plans which also include text messages.

No, smartphones do no use VZW's Mobile Web 2. They don't need it because their browers can usually access the full Web

As mentioned you can select the BIS plan for $30, or the BES plan for $45. For personal use, the BIS is the one. It includes email and unlimited [sic] Web.
I use BIS at $30.

Default Data Plan

Agree. I have the 29.99 data plan. However, because I don't text message much, I have just the voice plan for family (my wife also on the plan). If you text message enough to go above the monthly cost, definitely add that in.

If you decide to use GPS, the internal GPS only works with VNav ($10/mo.). You'll need an external puck to use any of the free GPS programs or Google maps or BB maps unless you have VNav activated and running at the same time to get the internal GPS working. Mapquest is $4.77/month but requires the external puck.

I just thought I'd add in the GPS info since most people start thinking about that once they get an unlimited (well 5GB actually) data plan.

Enjoy!
