Default newbie needing help

hello all, im here and i just bought a BB pearl 8100 from a friend of mine.
his original carrier is with tmobile and i have att. i already got the phone unlocked from tmobile.

my problem began when the trackball didnt want to scroll from left to right . i was able to google about fixing/cleaning the trackball which i did .. unfortunately upon following the instructions the plastic silver ring (surrounding the trackball) cracked but not totally broken . i did however brake the other metal ring that sits under the trackball . i went ahead and put everthing back except for that metal ring that sits underneath the trackball, im able to use the phone now, my only concern is that the phone now acts up when in use .

for example:
a) im scrolling and going into the menu then all of a sudden, it goes into one of the folders or icons in that menu without it being directed to it.

b) im on a phone call, the phone automatically mutes the phone..

c) i think the sensitivity of the trackball magnified after cleaning and braking that metal ring (which sits beneath the trackball).

my question is, where can i order small parts like the one mentioned above so that i can assess the problem?!

any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

The internal retaining clip (the piece that you broke) is the most uncommon part. You can buy the trackball assembly (minus this part) for $12.00 but
since you need this part there is only one place that I have found that sells it with the clip and it's pricey. Might be worth it to you though.

BBrepairshop.com - BlackBerry Repair Parts for BlackBerry 8100, 8120, 8130 Pearl

In the future when your trackball starts sticking, just lock the keypad and roll the trackball while pressing it down. This will clear it up most times.

If you want to disassemble it in the future follow this link with photos and be careful!

HOW TO: Clean the Trackball on your Pearl 8100

Good Luck!
